BEARS IN, SCORPIONS OUT
REDCAR will replace Scunthorpe in the Premier League Fours at Peterborough next week. The Scorpions have agreed to stand down following the withdrawal from the meeting of skipper David Howe, who continues to be troubled by injury problems. Howe’s absence would have meant the Lincolnshire side having to track a far from full strength quartet for the showpiece event at the East of England Showground on Sunday, July 15 and in view of that, Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey has agreed to forfeit his club’s place. BSPA major events spokesman David Hoggart said: "Scunthorpe are naturally disappointed by the absence of David but they generously offered to stand down from the meeting in order to offer a full strength Redcar the opportunity to take their place.
"It's a prestigious event and the competing clubs deserve to have the strongest team available. We are pleased to welcome Redcar and offer our sincere thanks to Scunthorpe and wish David Howe a speedy recovery."
