04/02/2010:
D-Day for Adams
LEIGH Adams will quit the European scene at the end of the 2010 campaign. The 38-year-old retired from the Grand Prix circuit at the end of the 2009 season, and now his domestic racing will follow. Adams has two farewell meetings pencilled in, one for Leszno, Poland, on October 10, and then Swindon the following Sunday, October 17. After that, he and his family, wife Kylie, son Declyn and daughter Casey, will head back to their native Mildura to begin a new life. “You’ve got to stop somewhere and it’s just the perfect time to do it,” said Adams. “I’m 39 this year, I’ve had 22 years of a great career in England. So, I’m looking forward to the year but, at the end of it, we’ll say goodbye basically. “It will still be busy, I’ve got a book coming out, a DVD as well as those two meetings, so we won’t be standing still,” he explained. “We did a lot of work towards the end of last year organising the book, we’re hoping to have that out for Cardiff.” See this week’s Speedway Star for an exclusive interview with the ten-time Australian Champion, where he reveals a new-found passion for…road racing!
