AUSTRALIAN Todd Kurtz, best known in Britain for his time with Newport, Plymouth, Somerset and Sheffield, has announced his retirement.
Kurtz would have raced for Sheffield this year had the league season gone ahead as planned and still hopes to stage a testimonial at Owlerton in 2021. Kurtz said: “I didn’t really tell too many people, mainly due to the fact that I wanted people to know I was there for the right reasons, but 2020 was going to be my last season. “I didn’t really reach the heights of the sport that I once hoped. I would have done things a little different if I had my time over, you live and learn. But reaching 10 years has been my achievement. I’m proud of that. “I’ve loved every minute of my time over there and I hope that I have done all my clubs proud.” • More with Todd in this week’s Speedway Star.
