THE Premiership Grand Final will be contested by Peterborough and Belle Vue next week.
The Panthers overcame an early scare to see off Wolverhampton at the East of England Arena on Thursday night, while the Aces were accounting for Sheffield in their semi-final in Manchester. Wolves, who were trailing by two points after the first leg at Monmore Green, made a great start to the return encounter, shooting into an early 9-3 lead. But that was as good as it got for the visitors as Peterborough took command with three 5-1s between Heats 6 and 8 before pulling away for a comfortable 52-38 victory. The aggregate scoreline of 98-82 was identical to the one at the National Speedway Stadium, where Belle Vue, 10 points to the good after Monday's first leg at Owlerton, booked their place in the final as expected. The Aces (pictured) found their opponents much stiffer opposition on this occasion, however, with Sheffield leading on the night on four separate occasions. In the end, a 5-1 and two 4-2s saw the home side to a 48-42 victory on the night and a showdown with Peterborough for the title. The two legs of the Grand Final will take place on Monday at Belle Vue and at Peterborough on Thursday.
