THE Ben Fund Bonanza will be pushed back until later in the season after organisers scrapped initial plans to restage the event this Sunday.
Bad weather forced a postponement of last Saturday’s event at Workington but overseas rider commitments have ruled out another attempt this weekend,. SRBF chairman Paul Ackroyd (pictured) said: “We apologise to the supporters but we could not beat the weather. The track was waterlogged as were the car parks and access roads, so we were forced to call off a couple of days in advance. “We quickly rearranged for eight days later but then realised that too few of the riders were going to be available on that date. There’s no racing in the UK but there is a Polish programme. “It is certainly our intention to restage the meeting later in the season whenever we can find a date. “I’d like to thank Workington for being so supportive. They had planned a really big day with additional entertainments for everyone’s enjoyment, and in due course we will get the kind of event we all want.”
