MICHAEL Palm Toft's season would appear to be over after it was confirmed that the Danish rider broke his hand in Monday night's Premiership Grand Final at Poole.
King's Lynn's Palm Toft crashed out of the meeting at Wimborne Road after tangling with Poole's Frederik Jakobsen in Heat 12 and will miss the second leg of the final in Norfolk tonight. The injury is also a major blow to his Championship side Peterborough, whose league and cup double hopes have been decimated by injuries in recent weeks. Palm Toft joins Scott Nicholls, Bradley Wilson-Dean and Tom Bacon on Panthers' injury list, leaving the Peterborough management to try and piece a side together for two semi-finals this weekend against Scunthorpe (KO Cup) and Lakeside (Championship play-offs). Panthers promoter Ged Rathbone said: "It's another setback for us and obviously we wish Tofty all the best. "We're now trying to sort out guests for the weekend and hopefully we can pull out a trump card for Rye House in particular."
