LEICESTER team manager Stewart Dickson guided his side to a Premiership Grand Final and a Knockout Cup win this summer – but it could have been oh-so-different if life had taken him down the different route he had planned following his departure from Championship Glasgow in 2018. In this week's magazine, he reveals: "It came at a time when the Facenna family had their own ideas about what they wanted to do. I didn't do anything in speedway for a year and I'd actually bought a taxi, a white Vauxhall Insignia, because white was the colour you had to have to be an official taxi service at Glasgow Airport. The licence to be there cost a few bob, it could cost anything up to £50-60,000 and that is what I was going to do. It was the time to go – we raced the Monarchs on the Friday night and I resigned that weekend. I thought that was me done and if I'd got into taxis, I'm not so sure I’d have come back to speedway. I think I might have been lost to the sport."
