THERE is a new name on the British Final roll of honour after Rory Schlein emerged from a challenging evening at the National Speedway Stadium as the champion.
Wet conditions in Manchester at the rearranged meeting on Monday night put the 16-strong field to the test, but Schlein came through with aplomb to see off Richard Lawson, comeback man Jason Crump and Steve Worrall in the Final. Schlein and Lawson qualified automatically for the Final, and Crump and Worrall earned their passage through the semi-final at the expense of Richie Worrall and Chris Harris. Schlein said: "I'm over the moon, I really am. The weather conditions made things pretty tough and we didn't have it all our own way all night. We really had to fight for this. "I've been in the sport for a long time and winning is a wonderful feeling, of course, but nothing can beat that feeling when you're racing. Just to be here riding my bike."
