EDINBURGH have suffered a double injury blow and will be without Australians Justin Sedgmen and Kye Thomson for the rest of the season.
Sedgmen, who made his comeback after injury in the BSN Series semi-final against Scunthorpe last Friday, crashed in that meeting and sustained a broken left scaphoid, as well as breaking bones in his right hand. Thomson, meanwhile, was hurt during a rearranged Swedish Allsvenskan League fixture on Monday night, being ruled out of Valsarna’s match against Ornarna following a spill in Heat 2 which left him with fractured scaphoid. Thomson said: “The scaphoid is the real long-healing bone, it takes 10-12 weeks to heal. It's all on the left-hand side. I've got to give the X-rays to the hospital here to see if I need an operation on the other bone. “A rider wouldn't accept that I was coming up the inside and he just kept turning and leaning on me until our bikes got tangled. I couldn't have tried to avoid him any more, I was trying to stay off him but he just kept turning. I'm gutted that I've finished for the season, but I'll be at the track on Friday.”
