BRITAIN’S Robert Lambert clinched the World Championship silver medal – despite a tough night in Torun on Saturday.
Lambert went into the season’s final round holding a 10-point advantage over Sweden’s Fredrik Lindgren in the battle for runners-up position behind World Champion Bartosz Zmarzlik, but after failing to qualify for the semi-finals and adding only seven points to his tally, he was made to sweat as Lindgren worked his way through to the night’s final. Lambert was able to breathe a sigh of relief after watching Lindgren relegated to last place in the decider by Zmarzlik, Leon Madsen and Dan Bewley, a result which confirmed the silver medal for the Brit. Bewley moved above Martin Vaculik into fourth place in the final standings, while Jack Holder claimed the sixth automatic seeding into the 2025 series. Lambert said: “I don’t really feel like I got the job done at all after the performance that I put in. It was a very tough night. “I couldn’t really get things going. But with my consistency throughout the season, I secured my silver medal. I am super-proud and happy to be sitting here with a silver around my neck.” • Full coverage from Torun in this week's Speedway Star.
