PREMIERSHIP clubs have made some big-name signings over Christmas – with three of the top eight riders in the world agreeing deals for 2026.
King's Lynn have made a move for Max Fricke (pictured), the division's top scorer this year who ends a three-year spell with Leicester by making the switch to Norfolk. Meanwhile, Sheffield and Belle Vue have agreed new deals with Jack Holder and Dan Bewley respectively. Of the Stars' swoop for Fricke, team manager Rob Lyon commented: “King’s Lynn have been without a recognised No. 1 really on a permanent basis since 2019, so why not? We realise it takes up a lot of points but we feel we have enough excitement in the rest of the team to cope with it. “I’m excited to work with him. He’s a nice guy, very professional and level-headed, and hopefully he can bang some points in for us like he has done for Leicester and others over the years.” Sheffield boss Simon Stead commented: “It’s been a very uncertain time across the board since the end of the 2025 season. “There’s been quite a sense of angst from the speedway community, which is understandable under the circumstances I suppose, but the Premiership is still going to consist of top quality riders next year – and our signing of Jack is just one example of that. “He’s genuinely world class and he’s a points scoring machine who has won numerous key races for us at key moments. He’s a proper out-and-out No.1, he’s fully committed to Sheffield and we can’t wait to have him back again in 2026.”
